YES challenge at S'pore Poly

On Thursday, I had to go to Singapore Poly for the Young Enterprise Challenge. It was a two day programme where each group had to come up with a product and present it. My school sent three teams though none of the groups were able get past the preliminary rounds and into the semi-finals. Anyway it was a good experience for us. My group came up with
(drum rolls.....)

THE MEDI-WATCH!!! huh? wats tat? Haha that is actually a watch that has a sensor and a needle (like mosquitoes) under the watch so that it injects the medicine into the vein. Its quite complicated but this is the basic idea la. So on the first day, for the first part of the day we had a few seminars. Then we were split into our groups and we moved into a classroom. We were with four other schools - Yishun Town Sec (who eventually went to the semi-finals from our group), Queensway Sec, Orchid Park Sec. Firstly we had some ice breaker games. In the first game, we were asked by Mr Chris Tai ( our mentor) told us that sit in a circle and we were asked to introduce ourselves and say the names of those who had already introduced themselves. Unfortunately I was the last one but i was able to remember each and every one's name :D After that we asked to break up into groups. In the grps we were instructed to try to make the longest line of stuff using the things we had. My grp and another could only come up with 3 lines while Rishi's grp won with 4 and a half lines cos he had a deck of cards:(( haha anyway we had lunch break after that and surprisingly i met one of my ex classmate from Temasek Pri, who is now in TKGS.

After lunch, we went back into our normal grps. That was actually the start of the competition. We had to start to crack our brains in search of a new unique product that has not been made yet in the world. Finally, Rishi came up with a brilliant idea - THE MEDI-WATCH!!! As i hv already explained abt this product in the earlier para, i shall not bother to explain more. As it was a very tiring day, we did bother to think more abt the functions of the product which we left it for the nxt day.

On friday, we proceeded back to the class rooms and continued. Actually, when we went back home, we had decided to do a bit of preparing for the presentation so that we would only need to edit them when we come back. Hence, once everyone had turned up, we were given 2 hours to complete our stuffs. By 10 o'clock we had finished everything and also came up with the script. We were the last grp to present and by the time we presented everyone was hungry so we were let off for lunch. After lunch came the disappointing news. But before that, we had to go back to the auditorium where there were some ppl who talked to us abt the DPA. It was quite interesting but I could see that not many were listening as they wanted to noe the results. And they were nto good.... None of the SJI teams that we sent had made it to the semis :(((( we had believed that our product was definitely much better than the 'Instant Sanitizer' which Yishun Sec came up with. Anyway, we left SP shortly after the announcement of the results....

Holidays are Here.....

Finally the holidays have begun. Time to take a break from school. However, its starting get a bit boring after not going to school for almost a week. Never felt like this before :D started going to for training on monday. Realised I was totally off form. My dribbling was rusty, hits were not as powerful and kept missing the ball and my flicks.... omg dun want to talk abt tat. Played against STC on Wednesday. We only played one game and we won 1-0. I felt we should have scored more goals if it wasn't for the 4-touch rule. While we were playing the game, my coach (he was also the referee for that match) he suddenly came up with the 4 touch rule where were only allowed to touch the ball 4 times. He wuld blow the whistle and give the opposition a free hit if we touched the ball for more than 4 times. And after that we were unable to play with continuety. But in the end we still won the game with the goal scored by Hakeem. After the match, I went back home with Coleman where we resumed our usual talk on soccer and this time we talked abt C.Ronaldo leaving Manu. It has always been interesting to hear Coleman's viwes on Manu cos he supports Arsenal and how he always says Arsenal is always the better team (though Manu thrash Arsenal 4-1 on agg in CL semi-final)....
